Meet the Pastor
The Reverend Serena Mollenkopf-Grill, or “Pastor Serena”, is serving as pastor of St. John Lutheran Church. She is called to help St. John renew and redefine the church’s calling as God’s people in Williamsville.
Pastor Serena has been an ordained pastor for nine years. She is a graduate of Shippensburg University of Pennsylvania and the Lutheran Theological Seminary at Gettysburg. Although born in Knoxville, Tennessee, she spent her childhood in central Pennsylvania. She previously lived in the Capital region of Upstate New York, serving a two-point parish for six years. Pastor Serena and her family moved to Amherst in 2006 and she was called to serve St. Nicodemus Lutheran church in Marilla. Her husband, Rick Mollenkopf-Grill, is the NFCLYO (Niagara Frontier Lutheran Youth Organization) director (www.nfclyo.org). Pastor Serena and Rick have two children, Laura (6) and Jonathan (4) and live in the Sweet Home School district. You can visit her on facebook.
Pastor Serena’s favorite Bible verse is: “But we have this treasure in clay jars, so that it may be made clear that this extraordinary power belongs to God and does not come from us.” 2 Corinthians 4:7. It reminds her that God can do amazing things through us, even when we feel broken down.
