St. John is Going Green!
![]() |
Our Church Council continues to embrace a vision for St. John to “Go Green”. We are stewards of this planet and have a Christian duty to pass it along to the next generation as best we can. We already help our congregation and community through paper recycling efforts. New efficient and long-lived sanctuary lights dramatically reduce both the energy we use to light our services as well as how often we have to replace the bulbs. We have also made significant progress toward replacing inefficient incandescent bulbs with energy-stingy compact fluorescent light bulbs throughout our building. Although not very glamorous, recently installed water miser toilets reduce the amount of water required per flush by almost four times. |

Another idea is to send church correspondence using email versus postage for anyone who prefers the faster, more efficient contact email can allow. For every letter we convert to email delivery, we can reduce carbon emissions 50 to 200 fold! This can also save us more than $0.44 in postage per letter as well as office supplies and paper. This will also allow us to send multiple copies to the same household, eliminating our common cry, “Honey, have you seen the Eagle?” Any information you provide us will be kept within the church, in accordance with our privacy policy.
To get things started, we need you to sign up for email delivery today! The information you provide will also help us to update and maintain our membership directory.
